The sun shone down for the charity mêlée on Thursday.
We had 22 competitors, together with additional CoLPC members and Phoenix Heroes Activities Cymru members who came along to support and watch the games.
There was a raffle with a huge selection of generous prizes including;
Boats trip for 8, tea for two (x 2), various chocolates, sweets, candles, bottles of refreshments, a cool bag filled with treats and many more items generously donated by members and supporters, of both organisations.
The two clubs raised a fabulous £376 for Phoenix Heroes, well done everyone, thank you for your generosity. An extra thanks goes to POD who has very generously added another donation so the total amount raised is now £500. A letter of thanks was received which you can read here.
Rick said “I have always been of the opinion that Petanque is a highly sociable sport. All of the Phoenix Heroes who visited have had nothing but positive things to say about their experience, in particular, the warm welcome they received. This speaks volumes, not just for the game, but the club, and more importantly – you – the members who represent the City of Llandaff Petanque Club.”
- Mêlée entries (less prize money) = £65
- Raffle Ticket Sales = £311
Mathew won in the raffle a specially crafted glass coaster made by Ali Robertson
