During the summer some of our members took part in friendly matches against Wilton Bridge Ross on Wye
The weather was fine when we hosted the first meeting at Llandaff against Wilton Bridge so we were able to play without getting wet!! Everyone played three games each including doubles and triples.. There was plenty of friendly banter between the clubs during many hard fought games and everybody had a great day.
If my memory serves me correctly, Wilton Park won overall though it has to be said that some of members made up their numbers . Its not always easy to adequately match the numbers of players from each side!
A light lunch followed be a selection of cakes was provided for everyone to enjoy. and a date was fixed for the return match in Ross on Wye.
Again, the weather was fine and thankfully dry at Wilton Bridge, Ross on Wye and the numbers of players evenly matched this time.
Play got underway with the same format. This time, the games were very tight and teams both produced some brilliant play. On this occasion, it came right down to the wire with a very long match bringing the score to 8 -6 to Llandaff.
We had a brilliant day and our hosts were so friendly. We were treated to a lovely buffet provided by their members. The best part was that we finished the day at their local pub on the banks of the river enjoying a glass or two and getting to know them all.
We look forward to repeating the experience next year. Nail-biting final match!
